Making money online seems appealing to many people, probably because of the personal freedom that it would allow them to have. Imagine not having fixed hours, and being your own boss. Appealing, huh?

If you conduct a very basic search on google, you will find many ways to make money online, but most of the websites listed are all basically focused on the same ways to make money online.

I will be conducting a categorized list of different online money making methods available.

The list will be rather broadly categorized, but I believe it will cover most of the ways to make money online. I will continue to add on to the following list, so consider it a work in progress.

1. Create a blog or website and monetize it

This is probably the most popular, and best way to make money online. If you didn’t know, the way that you would make money from creating a blog or website is by monetizing it. You would add advertisements, or sell other people’s products or services for commission. There are a very good amount of money making blogs, which will help you make money. You will need to choose a model that fits your interests, skill level, and schedule. A simple blog will easily allow you to make a few hundred dollars a month by just using paid blogging sites.

2. Look into affiliate marketing and selling

Making money with affiliate marketing involves selling someone elses product or service, and making commission from each sale that you generate. Affiliate marketing is a very profitable, and a very big industry. Affiliate marketing covers a very wide variety of topics, so if you have a specific interest, you can most likely market something related to it. So lets say that you have an interest in working out, you can make money online by promoting a work out video, or course.

The amount of money that you can make depends on how popular what you are marketing is. If affiliate marketing is done correctly, it is probably one of the best ways to make money online. Here are some of the most popular affiliate programs, if you’re interested in affiliate marketing: Amazon, Commission Junction, and ClickBank.

3. Start your own online business

Creating an online business will allow you to make money off specific products or services that you may have. Some examples of popular online businesses are: Web design, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), translating, and copywriting. Starting an online business isn’t as difficult as you would think. It’s easy if you know the right kind of people, or having enough knowledge about the specific industry that your online business falls in. You should do quite a bit of research on the industry that you’re interested in. 4. Make money trying products and doing surveys (Get-Paid-To Websites)

There are hundreds, if not thousands of sites that will pay you to do surveys, and to try products. This type of website is really worth checking out, because you can make a nice sum of money by spending about 10 minutes a day doing paid surveys. They are also worth checking out because most of them have referral programs, which will create passive income. The nice thing about Get-Paid-To Websites is that you do not have to own a website, or have any specific skills required. The bad thing about Get-Paid-To Websites is that there are many scam sites. All of these Get-Paid-To Websites are completely legit, and I have been paid by every one of them. There are also some social networking sites that will pay you to use your site. These are usually operated by ad revenue sharing systems.

5. Be a freelancer and work on a per contract basis

If you have an internet skill such as web programming, web design, or copywriting you can offer your services and skills for money. Popular freelance jobs are things like transcription, translation services, proofreading, and also the ones listed above. Two online freelance communities where you can offer your services and skills are Elance.com, and Guru.com. The best way to find a freelance job is to probably visit a few webmaster forums, because webmasters are usually looking to expand their website, which require things like programming, web design, translation, and writing.

If you’re really focused on writing and do not want to create a website or blog, you can make money by selling your articles to websites that will pay for your content.

6. Make your own product and sell it

Products that you can make can include website designs, ebooks, and sounds. Some cool websites like Lulu.com will allow you to design, and sell your own electronic products like artwork, calendars, brochures, ebooks, and images. If your skill is mostly photography, there are websites like CitizenImage that will pay you for your images.

7. Get involved with online retail trading

Ebay.com and Craigslist.com are the two most popular websites if you wish to get into the online retail trade business. You can purchase an item from craigslist, and sell it on the other site, or vise-versa.

For a little while now, there has been a lot of people talking about affiliate marketing on Craigslist, and small businesses marketing there. I have tried Craigslist and other websites like it for a very short period of time.

I personally think that Craigslist, and similar sites are a great place to market your specific skill sets. Online classified ads services like Craigslist can provide small businesses a sufficient place to advertise their goods/services through the internet.

Services like Craigslist are basically a free place for your targeted advertising. I say free targeted advertising because of the websites ability to let you choose which specific category you would like to post your advertisement to.

Utilizing Craigslist is usually one of an affiliate marketer’s ways to make money online. You have to be an affiliate marketer that knows what you’re doing to successfully market on Craigslist. I say this because if you do not know what you’re doing, most of the time your post will be quickly deleted, or not even posted (this goes mostly for Craigslist). However, there are some great ways to use Craigslist to earn some decent side income.

Using Craigslist And Similar Websites To Make Money Online

1. Offer your freelance services. Do you like to design, write, or photograph? Job sections of these boards will usually allow you to post your services.

2. Promote your online business. Usually hard labor work does very well on classified boards. Computer repair men, delivery servies, etc, usually do quite well on classified ad boards. But who’s to say that you can not promote your online business(es) the same way they do theirs? You can use these classified ad boards to promote your online business, such as: web design, translation services, or online marketing.

Here are a few I have experimented with in the past. Im quite sure there are quite a few than I will list here, but this is to help you get started. Most of these are similar to Craigslist, So if you are familiar with Craigslist, you should have no problem using these other websites.

Please note that most of these are based on North America and the US in particular. Also note, that none of them will get you the same results that Craigslist will. If you’re looking for more results, I would suggest sticking with Craigslist, Backpage, and GoogleBase. I will provide you with a link, and a screen shot off all of the websites that I list. CashCrate… One of my favorite ways to make money online! You get paid to complete surveys and trial offers. I can usually make about $5 in less than 10 minutes by doing the paid surveys. If you do trial offers, you can easily make $100 in an hour! I read all over the web that cashcrate is a scam, well i can tell you right now that it is not! I will be telling you how to start your own blog today. A “blog”, short for weblog, is a internet based journal, where people can post their opinions, thoughts, or anything else they would like you to know. It’s very easy to create a blog, and anyone can do it. In most cases, creating a blog is completely free, unless you would like your own hosting and to have your own domain. Let’s get on to the tutorial:

Step 1: Decide which blogging platform you would like to use. There are plenty of sites online that allow you to make a blog on their server, some include: TheDiary.org, Blogger.com, Blog.com, LiveJournal.com, Mindsay.com, Xanga.com, and Weebly.com.

Step 2: Once you have signed up for a free/paid blogging service, you will have a selection of pre-made templates that you can use. Be sure to fill out your profile so that people know a bit about you!

Step 3: Customize your blog. You can find a lot of ‘plugins’ for your blogging platform, just some things that will catch your reader’s attention. For example you could add MyShoutbox which you can get at Myshoutbox.com.

Step 4: If you are unhappy with your blogging platform, you can look at other websites that include a lot more features for a small fee, such as TypePad.com.

Step 5. Do you want your blog to be public, or private? If your blog is public, anyone who has access to the internet can access your blog. If you decide to make your blog private, just your family and friends can view it. If you would only like select posts to be private, most blogging platforms provide a tool so you can password protect your posts, so only people you give the password to can view the post.

Step 6: How do you want your blog to look? That’s the next question you find yourself asking. Most blog sites allow you to pick your template or color scheme.

Step 7: After you create your blog and customize it, write a few posts just to get used to it. The first post is always the hardest. As soon as you get into the routine of blogging, you will find yourself always thinking of what to blog about next. You can write about anything you’re interested in, your day, thoughts, mood, etc.

Step 8: Visit other blogs and comment them to build a blogging-circle. If you decide to comment a blog, make sure you leave your link so that they can visit your blog too.

Step 9: If you want a more attractive, eye pleasing blog, there are many sites up offering blogging ’skins’ or templates. A site that i recommend getting blog ’skins’ from is BlogSkins.com. BlogSkins.com also has photoshop/html tutorials.

Step 10: Get your blog some traffic by sending your blog link to friends or publish your blog link on one of your other websites. Add your URL to posts you make on other blogs.
